Models of Reflection

On this page:

  • Gibbs Model of Reflection
  • Borton's Model of Reflection (also known as Driscoll)
  • Kolb Model of Reflection

The three models of reflection below are arguable the most commonly used in academic writing. Click on the images for more details of the individual model. Whenever you are writing reflectively, it is important that you are honest throughout this process. Try to remember that this is a process that is designed to help you improve your practice and skills, not to simply point out the parts that are not so great.

Other models of reflection are available, so please speak to your lecturers or the library staff for more information about other models of reflection.
