Wrong submission / accidental uploads

The Turnitin Logo Turnitin

I've uploaded the wrong file/to the final submission point by accident, what do I do?

First, as mentioned previously it's always important to take your time when uploading an assignment to ensure that you upload to the correct submission point, however, this can happen by accident and your submission can be removed, but it is NOT a quick process.

Note: If your submission is due the same day you request removal, there is a very slim chance that it will be removed the same day, this is due to the steps required to request removal which are explained below. This process CANNOT be sped up because of deadlines.
  1. Head to the service desk software, specifically the Turnitin removal request ticket type.
  2. Provide as much information as possible on the ticket, the template linked on step 1 has all the fields marked, including the Module code, Lecturers name, Assignment name and which VLE it is.
  3. Once you have submitted your ticket, the digital solutions team will first need to contact your lecturer to ask for permission to remove the request, this can take some time depending on how quickly the lecturer responds.
  4. After the lecturer responds, the digital solutions team will then contact Turnitin to request removal from their database, this can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours.
  5. Once everything has been removed, you will receive a reply to your ticket to indicate that the submission has been removed and that you will be able to submit again.
