Logging into Moodle for the first time
Video Guide
The Written guide below can also be used as a Transcript for the video above.
Logging in for the first time
When you start a course at the university, you will first need to logon to both the MyUni portal and Moodle, so that your modules can be added to your Moodle Dashboard (which can take up to 24 hours and should happen automatically).
To do this, first head to the MyUni portal and, if you haven’t already created a password for your student account, click 'Login support'. Then click 'Student Password Reset' , to create a password for your student account.
When the page loads, follow the on-screen instructions to create your password.

If you have already created a password, click the 'Logon' banner.
You will then be taken to a Microsoft sign-in page.
Microsoft sign in page
Once you have reached the Microsoft sign in page, you will need to login with your full STUDENT email, (NOT a personal Microsoft account).

After typing in your full student email, click ‘Next’, and then enter your student password that you would have created previously. Then click 'Sign in'.
If your account is new you may need to setup Microsoft Authenticator. Please see our separate guidance on setting this up for the first time.

If you already have Authenticator setup either open the notification on your phone and type in the two digits displayed on the sign in page into the app, or select from one of the options presented to you on the Microsoft Sign in page.
You will then be asked if you would like to stay signed in.

When you have successfully signed in you will be taken back to the MyUni portal.
On the MyUni portal, either click the Moodle icon within the top row of icons, or scroll down to the VLE section and then click on Moodle.
When Moodle loads, you will be taken to your Dashboard.
Scroll down to the 'Course Overview’ section to check and see if you have any modules. If you don’t see anything there, don’t worry as this is normal, as it can take anywhere from a few hours up to 24 hours for your modules to appear, so please wait until the next day before contacting support if you don't see your modules.
For example, MOD123 25/26 Moodle Demonstration Course.
When your modules are visible, you are now ready to start using Moodle.
