Submit an Assignment

Working with assignments on Moodle
You may be asked to produce assessed work in a variety of digital formats. The University expects the majority of assessed work, where possible, to be submitted online, via the VLE. Make sure you understand how assignments are submitted online before you reach any critical deadlines. If these are in a written format, there will be either a Moodle or Turnitin assignment point on your module course pages.

The Written guide below can also be used as a Transcript for the video above.
Written Guide
In order to submit an assignment to Moodle. First, log on to the MyUni Portal and click the Moodle tile.

When Moodle loads, you should be taken to your dashboard. The easiest way to get to the assignments is through your timeline, however, if you don't see your assignments in the timeline, you will need to head to the module directly.

This can be done by either using the 'Recently accessed courses' or through the 'Course overview'; when you have found the correct module, head to the 'Assessment and Feedback' section.

In order to upload a Moodle type assignment, click on the submission point and then click the Add Submission button.

You can either drag and drop files into the dotted box, or click the icon of a piece of paper to add a submission.

If you click the paper icon, you can then choose 'Upload a file' and then click the 'Browse' button.

Locate the assignment that you need to upload, and then, select it, and either click open or double click to attach the file.

Then click 'Upload this file', then click 'Save changes'.

Your Moodle assignment has not yet been fully submitted, it has been submitted as a draft.

Keep in mind that your lecturers can access the draft versions, however, you will need to make sure you actually click the 'Submit Assignment' button, however, before doing so, it is advisable to check to make sure you have uploaded the correct file.
In order to make sure that you are happy with the submission you have uploaded, click on the file that you have uploaded, this will download a copy of the file you have just submitted.

Click to open the file and then depending on what kind of file it is, make sure you click 'Enable Editing', this will allow you to preview and check the file.

If you are happy with the file you have submitted close PowerPoint or Word or whichever application you have just opened, and then return to Moodle. If you need to make any changes, you can either click 'Edit Submission' or 'Remove Submission'.
'Edit' will provide you with an option to go back to the same screen you visited when you originally clicked 'Add submission' (where you can either add a new file or remove the currently uploaded file).
'Remove' will display a confirmation dialog, and if you click 'Continue' Moodle will remove the submission completely.
(There is no right or wrong way to do this, as each option is more of a personal preference)

However, if you're happy, click the blue 'Submit Assignment' button.

Then tick to certify that the assignment is your work and that you have referenced and credited all sources, then click the blue 'Continue' button.

Your submission is now submitted for grading, and you cannot make any changes to this assignment now that it has been submitted.

Turnitin
Turnitin is text-matching software which we also allow students to use to check their own work before submitting work for assessment and to check your referencing (see above). Your tutor will provide you with further assistance on understanding the percentage mark you receive when using Turnitin. More information on Turnitin is available on the Academic Integrity section of this course.
On each of your module pages you will find a Turnitin Similarity Check link to check your document for plagiarism.
Further information on Turnitin and submitting to Turnitin can be found on our dedicated Turnitin page:
Your tutor will also provide you with feedback on your assignments and how you can improve your grades in future assessments. This feedback is also usually shared with you via the VLE.
